Lata Mangeshkar Chowk in Ayodhya
The Lata Mangeshkar Chowk in Ayodhya is envisioned as an active public realm located near Ram Ki Paidi. The project aims to create a vibrant urban space that reflects the cultural and spiritual significance of the city while encouraging continuous public engagement.
Inspired by the legacy of Lata Mangeshkar, the design acknowledges her deep devotion to Lord Ram and her emotional connection to the historic moment of the Ram Mandir Bhoomipujan 2020. During this occasion, she expressed her joy and reverence, marking the fulfillment of a long-awaited dream for millions of devotees.
The project translates this emotional and cultural significance into a physical space, where architecture becomes a medium to celebrate faith, memory, and collective identity. It seeks to create a safe, accessible, and dynamic environment that resonates with both residents and visitors.
PROJECT CONCEPT
The concept of Lata Mangeshkar Chowk is rooted in the idea of continuous celebration, where the spirit of Diwali is experienced every day—symbolizing the eternal welcome of Lord Ram into the city.
Through the integration of music, light, and spatial design, the project draws from devotional songs of Lata Mangeshkar dedicated to Lord Ram and Hanuman, creating an immersive and culturally rooted public realm. The chowk is designed as a safe, inclusive, and active space that encourages gathering, movement, and interaction at all times.
